In the last four years, Friuli Venezia Giulia has been one of the Italian regions that has invested the most in the spread of renewable energy through non-repayable grants for
photovoltaic systems,
storage systems and
solar thermal systems.
Today, however, a new phase begins.
The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region has in fact announced that
15 September 2026 will be the deadline for the submission of applications relating to the historic calls dedicated to photovoltaics and storage that have characterized regional energy policies in recent years.
A news that might seem negative but which, if analyzed in detail, highlights a much broader and potentially even more advantageous strategy for property owners, investors and condominiums.
THE PHOTOVOLTAIC BONUS IS NOT INTERRUPTED DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS
One of the most important aspects that emerged from the statements of the Regional Councilor for Infrastructure
Cristina Amirante concerns the fact that the closure of the calls is not determined by the exhaustion of resources.
The Region has in fact confirmed that it has allocated additional funds with the aim of
covering all applications that will be submitted by 15 September 2026.
It is therefore the
planned conclusion of a measure that has achieved the objectives for which it was conceived.
THE NUMBERS OF AN UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS
The results obtained by the regional program are particularly significant:
✅
Over 49,000 applications submitted
✅
More than 46,000 families involved
✅
Over 342 million euros in contributions granted
✅
247 MW of new photovoltaic power installed
✅
435 MWh of storage systems financed
✅
More than 1,000 solar thermal systems built
These are numbers that have allowed Friuli Venezia Giulia to become one of the
most advanced territories in Italy in terms of the spread of renewable energy in the residential sector.
WHY THE REGION IS CHANGING STRATEGY
In recent years, the
residential photovoltaic market has changed profoundly.
Single-family homes that were highly cost-effective for installing the panels have already largely made the investment.
Today, the main energy problem of buildings is no longer just the production of electricity. The real issue is represented by the
reduction of consumption.
A building that disperses energy through walls, roofs and windows will continue to have limited energy performance even in the presence of a large photovoltaic system.
For this reason, the Region intends to concentrate more and more resources on interventions such as:
- thermal coats
- Insulation of roofs
- Replacement of windows and doors
- redevelopment of the building envelope
- global energy efficiency
- reduction of energy needs
A strategy perfectly consistent with the European guidelines provided for by the
EPBD Directive – Green Homes, which aims to improve the energy performance of the existing building stock.

THE BIG NEWS: THE CALLS FOR TENDERS FOR THE ENERGY REDEVELOPMENT OF CONDOMINIUMS ARRIVE
Probably the most interesting aspect concerns the condominium sector.
The Region itself has recognized that contributions for photovoltaics have had excellent results in single homes but a
much more limited diffusion in large urban centers and condominium buildings.
The reasons are known:
- greater decision-making complexity;
- need for shareholders' resolutions;
- higher investments;
- presence of centralized systems;
- Difficulty in coordination between owners.
For this reason, the attention of the Region is progressively shifting towards the implementation of a new program dedicated to the
overall energy efficiency of condominiums.
We will no longer talk only about photovoltaic panels.
This is a paradigm shift that could generate very important opportunities for condominium administrators and owners.
IS IT STILL WORTH INSTALLING A PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM IN 2026?
The answer is
Definitely yes.
Those who are considering the construction of a photovoltaic system or a storage system still have the opportunity to apply for a contribution by
15 September 2026.
In light of the Region's statements, this could represent
the last opportunity to access one of the most generous measures ever activated in Friuli Venezia Giulia for the residential sector.
For many owners, the time to decide is right now!
We remind you that to
apply for the contribution it is necessary to have built the system, paid for it and certified it.
THE FUTURE WILL BE INTEGRATED ENERGY REQUALIFICATION
The evolution of European, national and regional regulations is clearly outlining the market for the coming years.
The incentives will progressively tend to reward not the individual intervention but the
overall energy project. The properties able to access these contributions will be those that obtain the greatest economic, energy and asset benefits.
The challenge of the future will not only be to produce more energy. Above all,
it will consume much less.
And it is precisely in this direction that the future energy policies of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region seem to be oriented.
